Acne Treatment

What Types Of Acne Treatment Are Available?

There is no one definitive cure for acne, as everyone’s dermis is different. However, there are a wide variety of treatments for acne that can dramatically improve the condition, like specialist products and facial peels. At ØNE aesthetic studiø, Dr Chantrey uses premium quality skincare products and chemical peel systems including Obagi, Filorga and Skintech.

How Much Does Acne Treatment Cost?

The cost of the procedure is dependant on which treatment is chosen and what is required. The standard prices for a chemical peel start from £225, but a full medical evaluation will take place during the consultation to discuss the patient’s options.

What Can Be Improved With A Chemical Peel?

Not only is a chemical peel the preferred method of treatment for acne, but there are a number of other problems it can help to improve, such as:

There are superficial, moderate and deep chemical peels, each producing different results.

Superficial peels: Lighter peels use Glycolic, Salicylic, Easyphytic chemicals to achieve the final results. They’re an excellent way to treat dryness, uneven pigment, acne or fine wrinkles. Essentially, it works to revitalise the skin and give a healthy, fresh glow.

Moderate peels: These target deeper acne scars, uneven skin colour and severe sun damage. It removes skin cells from both the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and upper part of the second layer of skin (dermis). They can safely treat most skin complaints, great news for those who struggle with keeping their acne under control.

Deep peels: This uses Trichloroacetic acid to deeply penetrate the skin. Because it uses highly specialised chemicals, it can only be administered by qualified, experienced doctors. Dr Chantrey has many years of experience with such chemicals from her work in Wound Healing Research and Tissue Regeneration, as well as using these products in the Cosmetic Surgery industry.

Would I Be The Right Candidate?

The acne treatment Manchester clinics offer cater to candidates with mild to moderate acne. If you have experienced difficulty in removing your acne, then a chemical peel may just be the next best step. It can also greatly reduce acne scars.

Are There Any Risks?

There are some risks with acne treatments, especially those which use chemical peels. Before and after these peels, all patients will require specific skincare and sun protection. It’s paramount that patients avoid the sun in the weeks following their treatment.

There are different side effects associated with each type of peel, the more invasive the treatment – the more risks involved. Common complaints include:

There are some more serious risks that are generally associated with deeper peels, such as bleeding, crusting, and prolonged reddening of the skin and discoloration. Due to the fact that deep peels are absorbed into the skin and into the bloodstream, it can cause kidney problems, breathing problems, and serious heart complications. It is extremely rare for a patient to experience such risks, but during your consultation, you will be fully briefed on how they would be treated should they occur.
